Ganging up of Saxena, Dulat, Rajeshwar, Sood, Jha & Dua a dangerous development | | | RUSTAM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 22: The steps suggested by Saxena, Dulat, Rajeshwar, Sood, Jha, Dua and others who participated in the Observer Research Foundation (ORF)-sponsored pro-Kashmir meeting on August 20 at Delhi to overcome the current difficult situation in the Kashmir Valley clearly suggest the extent to which these security and Kashmir experts, representatives from Kashmir and journalists covering Kashmir were biased in favour of those seeking autonomy for Kashmir (Read Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir because they believe Kashmir is Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, as also because they believe that meeting the separatist urges of the Kashmiri Muslim leadership would be the same as satisfying the political urges of the people of Jammu and Ladakh and displaced Kashmiri Hindus and Sikhs). Similarly, their complaints against New Delhi and unequivocal suggestions that New Delhi should not blame Pakistan and Pakistan-based militant outfits for the current unrest in the Valley, that the current unrest is the manifestation of "home grown anger" and that New Delhi should ensure immediate release of the so-called "moderate separatists" so that ground is prepared for dialogue with them also clearly suggested that these experts have gone perverted and that they have no place whatever in their scheme of things for the non-Muslims in the state, who constitute almost half of the state population. All this also indicated their soft corner for Pakistan. Besides, their two suggestions regarding the setting up of two panels to be headed by persons like former Chief Justice of India AS Anand and former diplomat G Parthasarthy to suggest the kind of autonomy that could be given to Kashmir and meet Kashmiri separatists to discuss with them issues like autonomy and related matters established beyond any doubt that these so-called Kashmir experts believe that autonomy could be a viable solution to the so-called Kashmir problem. In other words, they believe that withdrawal of the Central laws from Jammu and Kashmir could help resolve the issue, conciliate the Kashmiri separatists and stone throwers and assuage the "hurt feelings" of the "angry Kashmiri Muslims", who have been on the roads for more than two months now. It can be said that these experts are of the view that one of the major causes responsible for the prevailing unrest and anger in the Kashmir Valley is the extension of the Central laws to the state. Strange and ridiculous! One could ask a question: What type of role the Saxenas, Dulats and Rajeswars had played when they were holding important assignment? They must have played a dubious role; they must have hobnobbed with separatists and harmed the Indian interests. The very fact that these experts urged New Delhi to "attend to protestors in Kashmir by providing 'justice and self-respect' to people (read well-entrenched and all-powerful Kashmiri Muslims who have been ruling the state since 1947 and exploiting and persecuting the non-Muslim minorities in the state) should clinch the whole issue and establish how biased they were in favour of those unruly and regressive forces in the Valley who have brought everything in Kashmir to a grinding halt and paralyzed all the institutions (political, social and economic) under a newly-crafted strategy - use stones instead of AK 47 to tell the international community that they are not terrorists - that is more lethal and "result-oriented" with a view to wresting major, major political concessions from New Delhi. It would be too much to say that these so-called experts are not aware of the fact that Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled, guided and indoctrinated paid agents in Kashmir like Geelani and the Mirwaiz changed their strategy to achieve their ultimate goal in 2007. They know each and everything, but they do not want to highlight this change of tactics because it would defeat their design of driving Jammu and Kashmir away from New Delhi. They are biased, motivated and ill-intentioned. They want New Delhi to accord dangerous respectability to the politics of communalism and separatism, coupled with the cult of sharp-edged stones (read boulders), which are highly lethal. They have nothing to suggest against the stone throwers and other Kashmiri separatists. Their grouses are against New Delhi and, according to them, it is for New Delhi to rectify its mistakes by negating the Indian Constitution and creating an environment that satisfies the Kashmiri Muslims' urges or addresses the "sentimental side" (read communal urges). These experts did suggest that the Omar Abdullah-led government must go lock, stock and barrel because it has failed to deliver. One can agree with them. The Omar Abdullah government has undoubtedly failed on every front. It is a fact. It is also a fact that the Chief Minister has, instead of taking head on the stone throwers and their masters, including Geelanis and the Mirwaizs, overtly and covertly contributed to the unrest in Kashmir by speaking the language of separatists, thus playing the role of opposition - role no different from the one being played by the People's Democratic Party that is no more than a replica of the All-Party Hurriyat Conference. These experts should have hailed Omar Abdullah for his role, but they didn't do that. Perhaps, they want Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to take over as Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister. Perhaps, they feel that the Mufti could achieve what is unachievable under the greenhorn-in-politics Omar Abdullah despite his open acknowledgement that he considers Jammu and Kashmir an unsettled issue. Anyway, no one in Jammu and Kashmir would mind if New Delhi asks Omar Abdullah to pack up or if the failed and defeated Omar Abdullah himself resigns. (To be continued) |
