JAMMU, August 23: The duo of Gurdeep and Parath today scripted Jammu’s big 86 runs win over district Doda in the title clash to help hosts emerge as new champion in inter-district divisional level under-19 cricket tournament, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here.
Displaying exceptional batting skills, both Gurdeep and Parath together made 101 runs for the third wicket partnership thereby building a competitive total of 137 for Doda to chase in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of three wickets. In reply, Doda made a poor start and lost wickets on regular intervals resulting into the whole side bowled out for a meager total of 51 runs in 17 overs.
Earlier, Jammu too made a poor beginning losing first two wickets for just 13 runs in four overs. Howeer, Gurdeep Singh and Parath Sharma played bold cricket and hit the ball at will thus added 101 runs for the third wicket. While Parath scored 47-ball 61 runs, Gurdeep contributed 52 runs off as many deliveries. From Doda, Raies was most successful bowler, who took two wickets for 16 runs.
