Chib reaffirms Govt’s commitment to get Jammu Dental College recognized | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 23 The students of Indira Gandhi Dental College, Jammu, today called upon Minister for Medical Education, Sports & Youth Services, R S Chib, at GMC. Principal Secretary, Health, R. K. Jeerath, Principal Government Medical College, Rajinder Singh and parents of the aggrieved students were present on the occasion. The Minister gave a patient hearing to the students and said that there was a misconception regarding the de-recognition of the college as the recognition is granted by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and Union Ministry for Health, only when the first batch of students passes out. He said since the first batch of the college is undergoing internship the matter regarding the recognition is being taken up with the concerned authorities. He said that the Government is making all out efforts to furnish the requirements and formalities set by the DCI. He said that all necessary steps viz-a-viz infrastructural development are being taken up and the post of Principal will be filled up within few days. He said that DCI will be approached through proper channel for seeking recognition to the college. Chib said that the Government is aware of the problems of the students and their career will not be left in lurch. He appealed the students to cooperate with the government for resolving the matter, adding that, timely review of the matter will be taken up and the students will be kept informed regarding the issue.
