| "Go India Go", India will not go | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 23: The whole of the nation in general and the people of Jammu and Ladakh and non-Muslim minorities in the state, plus the Jammu-based former and serving bureaucrats, traders and their organizations, Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) and all the Jammu-based student organizations in particular, have to take a serious note of the ongoing "Go India Go" movement in Kashmir. They have not only to see through the nefarious game-plan of the Kashmiri separatists and ardent believers in the permitive and intolerant concept of "Nizam-e-Mustafa", but have also to see through the dubious game-plan of the Kashmir-based traders' organizations and former and serving bureaucrats but also to defeat it comprehensively.
The Kashmir-based traders' organizations and former and serving bureaucrats just cannot be trusted because their views on India and the Indian Constitution are too well-known, as also because the recent writings of some former Kashmiri bureaucrats and judges, which appeared in a couple of Jammu and Kashmir-based dailies, have clearly established their identification with the cause the likes of Syed Ali Shah Geelani have been advocating. They need to be isolated and opposed not because they belong to Kashmir, they need to be kept away because of their perverted views and perverted ideology.
There is no doubt whatever that the people of Jammu province, barring a few mercenaries like Prof Zahur-ud-Din who want to vitiate the peaceful environment in Jammu by shamelessly asking the Union Government to hold "referendum" in Jammu and Kashmir and accommodate the communal urges of the fanatics in Kashmir, and the Jammu-based traders' organizations and bureaucrats, former or serving, are nationalist to the core. Their contribution to the national cause as well as the Jammu cause has been indeed spectacular. They have always remained in the forefront whenever their services were needed by the national requirement and exigencies of the time.
Who can forget the splendid role they played with utmost enthusiasm and zeal during the 2008 epoch-making movement in Jammu over the Shri Amarnath land issue? Who can forget the manner in which the Jammu-based traders; industrialists; hoteliers; restaurant and dhaba owners; transporters; bus/taxi/auto drivers; lawyers; and socio-cultural and literary organizations participated in that historic movement the Indian nation ever witnessed in its modern history." They worked hand-in-hand with the organizers of the movement and very happily suffered enormous financial losses during those two months of agitation in Jammu.
In fact, they, along with everyone in Jammu, fought heroically and valiantly without care for the imminent threat to their life and limb. It was not for nothing that the intelligence agencies had to inform their bosses in New Delhi that the people of Jammu could sustain the movement for any number of months and no one could cow down them or frighten them. The fact is that it was the security personnel who had raised their hands, virtually saying it was impossible to tackle the nationalist and committed to the cause the people of Jammu province. This was the role the Jammu-based traders' organizations, the BAJ, the student organization and all others played during the agitation. The role of the Muslims of Jammu province was no less significant. They made common cause with their non-Muslim brethren to defeat the fundamentalist forces in Kashmir. The nation had saluted them in 2008 for their splendid role and its attitude remains the same even today.
True that the serving officials did not take a direct plunge, but it is also true that in their heart of hearts they were with the movement. As for the former bureaucrats, some of them openly came out to support the agitation.
Hence, it is a foregone conclusion that the vested interests in Kashmir who are behind this pernicious "Go India Go" movement would be rebuffed here in Jammu and elsewhere in the country in case they dare to think in terms of expanding their constituency in Jammu, which is the real battlefield. Still, it is imperative on the part of everyone in Jammu and elsewhere to remain extra vigilant. The vested interests will certainly make attempts to communalize the situation in Jammu and our success lies in the strategy that nips the evil in the bud; that doesn't allow the Kashmiri secessionists to raise their ugly heads in this peaceful province.
The secessionists in Kashmir of all hues, including their supporters in the community of traders and some former bureaucrats, must realize that they are seeking to achieve the unachievable. They must remember that India will never ever quit Kashmir because Kashmir belongs to India. India has made supreme sacrifices here in Kashmir and the Indian nation will never allow anyone in Delhi to tinker with the Indian sovereignty even marginally. The sooner they realize it the better. Otherwise they will have no other option what to cross over to Pakistan and lead their life as the slaves lead. (Concluded). |
