Ganging up of Saxena, Dulat, Rajeshwar, Sood, Jha & Dua a dangerous development | | | RUSTAM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 23: Issue is not whether or not Omar Abdullah quits government and paves way for Farooq Abdullah or Abdul Rahim Rather or Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. The issue is: what do these Kashmir and security experts want? These experts belong to the category of those think-tanks who have no regard whatever for the Indian Constitution and who can go to any extent to ensure the negation of the Indian Constitution and pamper those in Kashmir who have been working relentlessly to force New Delhi to allow the extremists to decide the political future of Jammu and Kashmir on the basis of that two-nation theory under which British India was divided into Indian State and Pakistani state in 1947 - theory whose implementation uprooted millions and millions of people and resulted into killing of lakhs of people and rape on an unprecedented scale. Do these experts want New Delhi to revisit 1947 so that India witnesses one more partition and one more displacement of population in Jammu and Kashmir? Do they want India to witness murder, mayhem and rape? Do they want the miniscule minority of Sikh community in Kashmir to quit Kashmir because the fanatics in Kashmir do not welcome any non-Muslim? Have they forgotten the horrors of 1990, when the Kashmiri Hindus had to migrate wholesale to Jammu and elsewhere in the country to save their life, dignity and honour; to escape the wrath of the dreaded communalists in Kashmir? Do not they know that Jammu and Kashmir also houses nearly 4.5 million non-Muslims, including Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, displaced Kashmiri Hindus and Christians? Do they not know that the people of Jammu and Ladakh and Sikhs, displaced Kashmiri Hindus and Christians do not want to sever their connection with New Delhi in order to suffer at the hands of fanatics and bigots in Kashmir? Do they not know that these people are for their complete integration into India? More than that, do they not know Jammu provinces houses no less than one lakh ex-servicemen -- all of whom possess licensed guns -- and who are quite capable of defending themselves against the Kashmiri onslaughts? They are not cowards. They are brave and fighters. If not all, at least Girish Chandra Saxena and AS Dulat know what kind of people Jammu and Ladakh house. They know because they have operated in Jammu and Kashmir for years. They know them and their traits. And, still, they want the regressive forces in the Valley to be recognized, befriended and appeased on the spurious plea that they are fighting for "justice and self-respect." They are not fighting for "justice and self-respect." They are fighting for "Nizam-e-Mustafa." Their bottom-line is secessionism. The very fact that these experts talked about the "sentimental side" of the so-called Kashmir issue proves that they are out to pander to communalism and separatism in Kashmir. Who are they to poke their dirty noses in affairs which have direct bearing on the future of millions and millions of non-Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir. They have not given to them the license to speak on their behalf or act as mediators between them, New Delhi and fanatics in Kashmir. Similarly, who are they to suggest that the Congress party, which is a national party, should not remain in power in the state? The Congress party might have committed several blunders in the state, in fact, it has committed blunders, but to say that the Congress should hold aloof from state politics only means that these experts want the fundamentalist parties in Kashmir to rule the roost. This is a dangerous suggestion. Jammu and Kashmir is a sensitive border state and in such a state only a national party can lead the people aright. The Congress committed a grave blunder in 1975 when it abdicated power in favour of the Plebiscite Front leader and former NC president and Wazir-e-Azam Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. It did so under the premise that things would improve, but it did not happen. On the contrary, things under him deteriorated. The story of his son and grandson has been no different. Jammu and Kashmir needs a national party-led dispensation. Will these so-called Kashmir experts or security experts recognize the complexities of Jammu and Kashmir and not interfere in the state affairs? They must refrain from further vitiating the atmosphere in Kashmir by siding with the Kashmiri separatists. They have played their innings whatever the result and whatever their contribution. They should now lead a life the superannuated persons lead. Jammu and Kashmir doesn't need their services for their services and interventions are cropping up more problems. (Concluded) |
