| Sham inaugurates health centre | | | Early Times Report

Department of Horticulture, Jammu in collaboration with Department of Indian System of Medicine (ISM)/ Jammu and Kashmir State Medicinal Plant Board, Floriculture and Agro-Forestry Division of SKUAST Jammu today organized a National Campaign for promotion of Amla and Van Utsav by planting Amla sapling which was inaguarted by Minsiter for Health , Sham Lal Sharma .
On the occasion awareness camp for the farmers was also organized. It was apprised that there is one Raj Harar plant in Mathwar areas which is having high medicinal value and very remunerative. The division of Agro-Forestry SKUAST Jammu is propagating this variety for further distribution amongst the farming community.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted the importance of medicinal plants specially Amla and said that Amla is used in many Ayurvedic preparations and is beneficial for many ailments. He asked the farming community to avail the benefits of various incentives available under National Mission on Medicinal Plants, which are being provided by the department of Horticulture and Floriculture.
The Minister appreciated the work done by the departments in this field and exhorted upon the officers and field functionaries to work with zeal and dedication to provide maximum benefits to the farming community.
More than plants of Amla, Guava, Lime, Mosambi, Harar etc were distributed free of cost amongst the participants. Amla plants have been produced by Department of Horticulture in collaboration with Department of ISM (J&K State Medicinal Plant Board) Jammu under National Campaign for promotion of Amla.
Director Horticulture Jammu Mr. J. L. Sharma, Director Horticulture Kashmir Dr. G. H. Shah, Director ISM Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar, Director Floriculture Mr. K. K. Sharma, Prof. & Head Agro-Forestry Division SKUAST, Jammu Dr. Saleem and other senior officers of the concerned department were present on the occasion.
