Scholarships worth Rs one lakh distributed among students

Jammu, Aug 24:
Scholarships worth Rs one lakh were distributed among various students of Primary and Middle classes in Paragwal area by Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Jourian S L Bindroo Bindroo who visited various schools in the Paragwal area and distributed scholarships among the male and female students belonging to Scheduled Caste category in presence of local Sarpanches and Panches.
The schools where the scholarships were distributed include Girls Middle School Paragwal, MS (Boys) Paragwal, MS Sajwal, MS Pindi, MS Bela Jamana etc. Besides, Middle Schools, students of different primary schools falling in the jurisdiction of these Middle Schools were also benefitted.
The scholarships were handed over to the parents of the students in presence of former Sarpanches and prominent citizens.
At the primary level, male and female students were provided Rs 400 and Rs 675 respectively while at Middle level, male students got Rs 900 whereas female students got Rs 1350.
Addressing on the occasion in different schools, ZEO S L Bindroo said that beneficiries have been selected for scholarships on the basis of their percentage in last examination passed as well as attendance percentage more than 80 percent) in the last year.
Informing that scholarships would be provided to students through their bank accounts in future, Bindroo asked the parents to open saving accounts on the name of their children in nearest banks. He also asked the parents to spend the scholarship money on the welfare of their wards instead of spending it on the household expenses.
He stressed upon the parents to send their wards regularly to the schools so that maximum benefits of the government schemes could be availed.
Sarpanches and parents expressed their gratitude to the officer for distribution of scholarships. They appealed that such schemes should remain continue in future also so that maximum number of students could be encouraged.
Besides former Sarpanches Milkhi Ram, Chhajju Singh, Mangal Singh and Shamsher Chand, different heads of the Institutions were also present on the occasion. They included Vinay Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Darshan Singh, Sham Kapoor, Sat Pal, Kuljit Singh, Gagan Mishra and others..
