NN Kunj to perform Dogri play ‘Visarjan’ at Varanasi

Jammu, Aug 24: Dogri play ‘Visarjan’ is being staged at Varanasi (UP) by the Natraj Natya Kunj, Jammu, during the national theatre festival organised by Dashroopak Kala-Sanskrit, Sewa Samiti from August 25 to 29/
This play Visarjan which was previously staged at Festival Organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu and was adjudged best production this year.
The play is one of the finest creation in Poetry by an eminent playwright Nobel Prize Winner of 19th Century Gurudev Rabindra Nath Tagore. It was initially written as a full length novel namely ‘Rajrishi’ in which he created the finest work of literature to visualize the tragedy of life. He took the first part of the novel and with the essence of ‘Poetry’, framed the play ‘Visarjan’ in Bengali.
The play is artistically adopted by Kumar A ‘Bharti” in Dogri. However the lyrical dialouges in poetry remains unaffected which is the soul of the play. Especially Dogri dialect adds to the beauty of the play. The play is based on the Orthodoxial & Mythological concept of the society. It is based on the blind faith of people performing rituals like ‘Bali Pratha’.
The artists performing main characters are Mukesh Kumar Chalotra, Isha Taggar, Aaditya Bharati, Arjun Sharma, Mukesh Bakshi, Amandeep Sharma, Raj Kumar, Taniya Sharma, Niharika Sakshi, Aakash Sharma, Rajesh Kumar Chalotra, Pawan Kumar, Mekh Chand, Rahul Sharma and Nidhi. The play is being directed by Abhishek Bharti and assisted by Aaditya Bharti. Music composed and lyrics are sung by Surinder Manhas, Make-up by Manoj Damir Shammi and dances are choreographed by Romit Sawhney.
