Peace march disturbed peace of city: Prof Gupta | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 25: The senior leader BJP Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has charged the ruling leaders of the Congress-National Conference coalition of trying to vitiate the atmosphere even in Jammu through their ill-conceived moves like that of peace marches although they have utterly failed to perform their constitutional, legal as also moral obligations in the troubled valley of Kashmir. He urged upon the state governor to look into the matter that how a drama was enacted by the minister and some other government functionaries to “pacify the activists of the Youth Congress” who forcibly occupied the City Police Station for over 15 hours and certain ministers and some other important functionaries of the government continued to pamper them ignoring the plight of the policemen who had tried to question the unlawful actions of the those who were on the roads to what they called as Peace March. In a statement issued here today, Gupta said that on the very face of it looks ridiculous that the turmoil and violence in the vale of Kashmir but these enthusiastic of the ruling clan are staging peace marches in Jammu, which obviously disturbed the peace of the city even. It is a matter of investigation that who had planned this show in this city of temples and regretted that peace move was more of investigation than creating of any impression for peace in the troubled parts of Kashmir. The announcement about the appointment of a Commission to probe into what was called as the police excesses, by some veteran Congress leaders, have made the entire show, a ridiculous drama, he observed and asked chief minister, Omar Abdullah that whether his permission was sought for making this announcement for appointing a Commission as many legal and other implications are involved in making such like pronouncements. In his statement, the BJP leader also voiced his grave concern over the prevailing of lawlessness in the valley of Kashmir and assailed the government authorities for not making proper arrangements to provide security to oil tankers and other operators in the valley even after repeated assurances. This painful situation, he warned in the long run can lead to back lash and so many other implications. But it was a deplorable phenomenon that the ministers and some such like others are enjoying their luxuries in Jammu instead of attending to the problems facing the people in the valley because of stone pelting and other anti-national activities. Prof. Gupta also urged upon the governor to devise certain measures that the functioning of the system is not much hampered in Jammu and Ladakh because of collapse of the administration in the valley and working of the Civil Secretariat coming to halt sat summer capital ‘Srinagar.’
