Advocate Altaf visits border area | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Mahore, August 25: Advocate, Sheikh Altaf Hussain and other senior leaders today conducted an extensive tour of Mahore, Jamlan, Bagga, Sungri, Chassana, Kunderdan, Angrella, Shajroo, Mulass and Jamaslan and held various public meetings. While taking stock of the situation, Sheikh criticized the step motherly treatment of the government and the administration towards this backward tehsil. He said that 80 percent of the population of this area is dependent upon agriculture but due to the non supply of fertilizers and incessant rains, the crops of the farmers have been badly affected this year, rendering the poor man to face a starvation position. While demanding early supply f the basic amenities of life, Sheikh accused the ruling elite that in the last 60 years, even electricity and drinking water has not been supplied to Kunderdan, Majrakund, Charal, Bandh, Kala, Dharkote, Kanol, Keoli, Dharkala, Jamlan, Neeram, Gorla, Suo, Serni, Suhab, Unjla, Kansuli, Chak Gali, Katha, Shafa Pani, Gulabpura etc, with population over 30,000 souls. In a fervent appeal to the government, Sheikh demanded early restoration of the APL ration and increase in the BPL quota to this area so that a poor man could take a sigh of relief. On the occasion the inhabitants of areas complained that their land was acquired by the government for the construction of roads but no compensation has been paid to them so far. Sheikh Altaf warned the government to provide immediate compensation to all these land owners failing which they shall be constrained to approach the court of law and launch mass level agitation. Sheikh Altaf also demanded construction of mini hydel project at Nandoli and Icchni which will generate power as well as employment for the youths of the area. He further demanded establishment of new blocks, banks and PHCs at Chassana, Gulabgarh and Sharjoo.
