Chib declares open Jammu district badminton championship
Poonam wins opening tie in women’s singles

JAMMU, Aug 25: Poonam won the inaugural match of women’s singles event beating Anpurna in straight sets 21-17, 21-13 in the 25th Silver Jubillee Jammu District Badminton Championship which went underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, on the opening day, first round competitions in sub-junior and junior boys and events took place thereby making it a hectic day for the organising committee.
The four-day championship was declared open by the Minister for Sports, R S Chib, who was chief guest. President of the Jammu City and District Badminton Association, Dilbag Singh was guest of honour. Both the special guests were introduced with the participants.

HONOUR FOR VETERANS: On achieving the milestone of completing 25th year of Jammu district championships, the Jammu City and District Badminton Association has decided to felicitate all the participants of the inaugural edition of the championship.
“We have decided to honour all the veteran shuttlers, who took part in the inaugural edition of the Jammu district badminton championship during the valedictory function to celebrate the silver jubilee,” general secretary of the Association, Balbir Jamwal told SAN.
