Bhalla asks Revenue Officers to issue notices to illegal occupants

JAMMU, Aug 25: Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla has asked the District Development Commissioner (DDC), Jammu to depute a team of Revenue Officers for issuing the notices to illegal occupants who have encroached the nallah land in Gangyal Sector No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 besides Model Town Sector No. 1.
This was said by the Minister while inspecting the loss of inhabitant’s property due to flash floods in nallah at Gangyal, here today. Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, S C Sawhney and other senior officers of Revenue, UEED and JMC accompanied the Minister.
During the visit in Gangyal, Bhalla found the nallah water entered the houses of inhabitants and electronic items besides households were washed away due flash floods. He asked the JMC and UEED authorities to immediately depute a team of safaikarmcharis in the area for removing the garbage from the nallah.
Taking serious note on encroachment of nallah land, the Minister asked the Revenue Authorities to issue notice to Campa Cola owner for emoving the encroachments from nallah land. He appealed the people not to encroach nallah land adding that such practices are not only affected the day-to-day life of the residents but also damaged the property during rainy season.
Bhalla said that Government is committed to provide all help to the people who affected by flash floods and heavy rains adding that instructions were issued to Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) for repairing damaged portion of embankments of the nallahs. He said that repair work of embankments has been taken up on war-footing.
Responding to the locals demand, he asked the JMC authorities to depute a team of Safaikarmcharis on every Thursday on rotational basis for cleaning the Air port area for the convenience of visitors. Later, the Minister also chaired a meeting of Jammu Municipal Corporation, UEED, R&B and Revenue officers and reviewed the pace of development works of Multipurpose Community Halls executing in Malik Market, Ambedkar Nagar, Gorkha Nagar and Nai Basti Ramlila Ground.
He asked the R&B and JMC authorities to complete the ongoing construction works of the halls for the benefit of people by using quality material.
