Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 25: Number 14489485 K ex gunner Asha Ram (Arty) is a battle casualty of “Operation Vijay” (Kargil war) and had suffered 100% disability during the “operation Vijay”. This gallant soldier had applied for a gas agency in response to a ministry of defence letter No 1301/DGP/SE-11/op-vijay/ Dis of 6 Oct 2005 with the condition that gas agencies are bring allotted to the martyrs and disabled persons of Kargil war. His papers were scrutnised by Zila Sainik Board Jammu and onwards submitted to ministry of defence, Govt of India for their appropriate action. Unfortunately the applicant has not been allotted any gas agency.
The helpless Gunner Asha Ram addressed a letter to the Directorate General Resettlement, NGO Delhi in the form of a reminder on 24-2-2010 and endorsed the copies to the President of India, Prime Minister, Defence Minister, Chief of the Army staff and the Zila Sainik board Jammu and prayed for immediate allotment of a gas agency. Gunner Asha Ram was shocked to know on receipt of a letter No 1420/DGR/Se-2/oil/GL dated 13-4-2010 stating that Asha Ram’s case was processed but scheme has now been stopped and advised him that he should apply for 8% quota straightway. On knowing this Asha Ram was much trained to say that he was able to bear the gun shot wounds of the Kargil war but is unable to bear the pangs of arrows which pierced through his heart on hearing from the Director General Resettlement, New Delhi vide its letter mentioned. The decision of the govt (DGR) is irresponsible and an apathy towards war victims. The apathetic act on the part of Govt (DGR) is a demoralizing factor for the gallant soliders who have sacrificed their youth towards defence of motherland.
Now ex Gunner Asha Ram has to stand in queue for ex-serviceman’s 8% quota while applying for the gas agency which was a genuine right for him.
Therefore, the Govt of India, Ministry of Defence (DGR) has to reconsider to diction on the allotment of a gas agency to No. 14489485L ex Gunner Asha Ram of Jourian (Akhnoor) who is a war casualty, else the govt should face legal proceedings to seek the end of the Justice, said Asha Ram.
