JK Bank manager, his manager wife among 3 killed, 8 hurt in road mishaps

JAMMU, Aug 25: As heavy rains lashed the Jammu-Srinagar national highway today, the slippery road conditions and shooting stones took the lives of three persons, including a J&K Bank manager and his wife, who too was manager in the bank.
In another road mishap on the Line of Control (LoC) in Sabzian area of Poonch, seven army jawans sustained critical injuries.Police sources said Ravi Koul and his wife Sarita Koul were on their way to Jammu from Srinagar when their Alto car (PB08AH/2412) skidded off the road at Nachlana near Banihal, about 170 km from here, and fell into a deep gorge.
In the incident, which occured at about 8.30 am when it was raining heavily, both Ravi and Sarita were killed on the spot, the sources added.
While Ravi was manager in the Town Hall branch of J&K Bank, Sarita was manager in the bank's Shalamar Road branch. They originally hailed from Bagh Sunderbala at Chhatibal in Srinagar, but were at present putting up at Bhagwati Nagar here.
Their two sons work in New Delhi. After post-mortem at the Banihal hospital, their bodies were despatched to the house of their son's in-laws at Talab Tillo.
The cause behind the incident was stated to be the slip on the highway.Meanwhile, Mushtaq Ahmad, son of Mohammad Maqbool Gardoo, and Zafar Iqbal, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Ganai, both residents of Noorbagh, Sopore, were going in their Santro car (JK05A/5978) when a shooting stone hit their vehicle at Seri near Ramban about 11 am.
While Mushtaq was killed on the spot, Zafar survived with critical injuries and was hospitalised.
In another incident, seven army jawans, who were on their way to a forward post on the LoC in Sabzian area of Poonch, were injured when their vehicle rolled down into a gorge at Jaliya in Mandi. All of them were hospitalised.Cases in this connection stand registered at the concerned police stations.
