JAMMU, August 26: Abhimanyu Sharma of GGM Science College emerged winner in the men’s inter-college Cross Country competition, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus, here this morning.
The second place went to Deepak Singh of Government MAM College while Vijay Sharma of Post Graduate (PG) Departments remained third. Sohan Lal, again of PG Departments bagged fourth place.
In all, athletes from 24 affiliated colleges of JU took part in this competition.
Earlier, the first event of the annual inter-college competition was declared open by Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, who flagged off the athletes for the cross country.
Prominent among those present were Romesh Sharma, Ramesh Magotra, Dr Vinod Bakshi, Dr Brij Baloria, Mahesh Sharma, Narayani Jamwal, Balbir Singh Jamwal, Ravinder Singh and Dr Rajinder Lal.
Meanwhile, the women’s cross country event shall take place tomorrow at the same venue at 6.30 am.
