Damodhar Satri Udyog celebrates foundation day

Jammu, Aug 26: Damodhar Singh Udyog Sanastha celebrated the foundation day of its project ‘PAHL’ at KL Sehgal hall here today, were director Doordarshan Jammu, Naseem Khan was the chief guest.
As per press release, under project PAHL, more than 150 street and under privileged children re being imparted elementary education with the help of modern teaching aids. Majority of these children are from outside the state and belong to Naxal infested districts of Chattisgarh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
A brianchild of a retired police officer and chairman of the Damodhar Satri Udyog Sanstha, Onkarnath Chandra, the project PAHL started with a handful of students has nearly 150 students on its roll calls at present.
Teachers coming from below poverty line families are leading group of instructors and are imparting eduction to these children who come from different background.
Welcoming the chief guest on the occasion chairman, Chandra gave an overview of the activities carried out by the students from time to time.
He said helping these street children give him satisfaction and drive him to enroll more such children deprived of their basic right to education and added several close relatives and family friends are coming forward to extend all possible help and have volunteered to set up similar learning centres under project PAHL in other wards of the Jammu city.
In her address Naseem Khan appreciated the effort of the team project PAHL and highlighted the importance of imparting elementary education to all children below the age of 14 years.
Students enrolled under project of PAHL stole the show with their scintillating performances. Presenting a mix of cultural items which included thought provoking skit centering on the theme of social evil ‘dowry system’ was presented by the students and appreciated by all the guests present on the occasion.
The programme was conducted by Mitali Gupta and vote of thanks was presented by Jaswant Singh.
On the occasion the best students award was given to Mansi, best actor to Arun and special award was presented to Praful, junior most student for extra curricular activities.
