Anti-corruption court convicts police officer | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 26: Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Jammu today convicted ex-Station House Officer (SHO) Nagrota accused Muzaffar Malik in a case of corruption. The conviction has been ordered in a case FIR No. 101/1992 registered at Police Station Vigilance Organization Jammu for commission of offence U/S 5(2) P.C.Act and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for period of one year and fine of Rs. 5000. In default of payment of fine, Court ordered that the accused shall further undergo an imprisonment for six months. Case FIR NO. 101/1992 was registered in the Vigilance Organization Jammu on the complaint of then Mahant Sheetla Mandir, Nagrota Tulsi Giri wherein it was alleged that then SHO P/S Nagrota Muzaffar Malik demanded and accepted Rs 2500 as bribe from the complainant for helping him against illegal trespass on his land by Kishore Kumar and others. Instead of lending helping hand to complainant, accused kept him and others in custody. As such, accused official abused his official position for pecuniary gains. During investigation, allegations were substantiated and challan of the case was produced in the Court of law on August 29, 1995 against the accused Muzaffar Ahmad, then SHO Police Station (PS) Nagrota for judicial determination. On the completion of trial, accused person has been arrested and lodged in the District Jail Amphalla, Jammu for undergoing the sentence passed by the court
