JMC inspects torrential rain hit areas | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 26: Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) S.C. Sawhney alongwith Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jammu D.R. Sharma and Executive Engineer UEED inspected various places in Jammu wherein due to torrential rains, water entered into the households as well as lanes leading to damage to their properties. In a handout issued here today, it has been stated that sites inspected included Rajiv Nagar, Gangyal Area, Jewel Chowk and Ext. Trikuta Nagar. Necessary instructions were given to Executive Engineer UEED to start work of lying of crates where the nallahas breached at Gangyal so that the adjoining houses can be saved in near future. JCBs and manual labourers were deployed at two places so as to de-silt nallahas in order to enhance their intake capacity and ensure that it may not lead to further damage to households in the adjoining areas. Water Tanks were also stationed at Gangyal Area to provide facility of potable water to the people there. Further, a drive has been launched for timely de-silting of all the nallahas in the Jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on regular basis. Three water pumps were made operational at Rajiv Nagar so that water accumulated in the area could be pumped out in the River Tawi.
