Supari given to sumo driver to kill man in accident | | | JAMMU: Over a land dispute, a big amount (supari) was given by at least four youth to kill a man in a road accident at Kartholi near Bari Brahmana in Samba on August 12 last. SSP, Samba, J L Sharma said Madan Lal Basotra, son of Roldu Ram of Chhani Himmat, was going on his scooter at Kartholi on August 12 when a speeding Tata sumo had knocked him to death. As inspection of the accident site created doubt in the mind of police, a special investigation team (SIT), comprising SDPO and the Bari Brahmana police station SHO, was formed by the SSP to probe into the matter. During investigation, it became known that Basotra had been hit by sumo (JK02H/9076). Record of this vehicle, which police took from RTO's office, led SIT to the arrest of its driver Simranjeet Singh, son of Avtar Singh, of Preet Nagar, Jammu. His interrogation led SIT to the arrest of the main accused, who were identified as Jagmandeep Singh alias JD, son of Chanchal Singh of Mandir Wali Gali, Trikuta Nagar (extension), and Niranjan Singh alias Bhutto, son of Jameet Singh of Gurah Salathian. They were alleged to have given supari to Simranjeet to kill Basotra in a road accident. The sumo had also been purchased by them for him, the SSP added.He said during the interrogation of the main accused, it was known that Bhutto had a land dispute with Basotra and a case in this regard was pending in the court of law.Two more accused were absconding in the case. A hunt was on to nab them, the SSP added. |
