RSS, BJP & DSPMF also anti-Jammu and anti- Ladakh | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 27: The RSS, BJP-controlled Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Foundation (DSPMF), which is located in New Delhi, arranged on August 17 &18 an interaction between the top BJP leaders like Nitin Gadkari and Sushma Swaraj and hardcore Kashmiri separatists and their supporters, including Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University, Kashmir, Siddiq Wahid, and four to five activists of Roots in Kashmir, an organization of disgruntled Kashmiri Hindu boys and girls. The theme of discussion was Kashmir. The man who was behind what could be described as an out-and-out Kashmir-centric exercise was none other than Tarun Vijay, who flirts with the likes of Madhu Kishwar, a votary of self-rule for Kashmir. The number of Kashmiri separatists, all young Kashmiri Muslims, boys and girls included, plus Siddiq Wahid and a couple of teachers from the Islamic University, was approximately 55. These also included Kashmiri Hindu boys and girls. All the Muslim participants, barring one teacher from the Islamic University, Fouzia Kazi, were one as far as their demand for the separation from India was concerned. They were also one as far as their hatred for India was concerned. Siddiq Wahid described the interaction as "unprecedented". Tarun Vijay described the same as "ice-breaking." Gadkari and Sushma and their cohorts listened to the separatists with considerable interest. Gadkari even went to the extent of urging the Kashmiri separatists to "speak what they want to speak in a free and frank atmosphere." After the exercise was over, Tarun Vijay wrote for The Times of India Blog two-part article on this interaction. One of the articles was entitled "Kashmir's Azadi with tricolour" (Times of India, Aug 23). This article, among several controversial things, including the Tarun Vijay's sincere thanks to Siddiq Wahid for what he said the latter's unstinted support behind the interaction (interaction, according to Tarun Vijay, became possible because of Wahid), said: "None (from Kashmir during the interaction) could explain why they want 'Azadi', none could reply why Ladakh and Jammu remained absent from their world view." Had Tarun Vijay the moral right to bemoan the conspicuous absence of Jammu and Ladakh from the "worldview of those demanding independence from India? No. He, who enjoys the full-backing of the RSS and the BJP and controls the DSPMF, had no moral right to rake up the issue of the absence of Jammu and Ladakh from the separatists' worldview. For, he himself did not invite anyone from Jammu and Ladakh to participate in the interaction. How could he accuse the Kashmiri separatists of excluding Jammu and Ladakh from their worldview when he himself did the same while preparing the list of invitees? It would be too much to say that the exclusion of Jammu and Ladakh from the interaction was a mere lapse. It was not a lapse. Everything was deliberate. Tarun Vijay knew the presence of Jammu and Ladakh during the interaction would only defeat his designs because Jammu and Ladakh would say things that would not be liked by the Kashmiri separatists. One things is now clearly established: The RSS, the BJP and the DSPMF are no different from those outfits and think-tanks which have no place in their scheme of things for the marginalized and discriminated against people of Jammu and Ladakh. They are, like other outfits and think-tanks, for the likes of Siddiq Wahids, who pour venom on India and seek separation from India. The RSS and the BJP must stop raking up the issue of Jammu and Ladakh. For, the people of Jammu and Ladakh no longer trust them. |
