Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 28: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decried non-implementation of the 73rd and 74th amendments of the Indian Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir and said that it has devoided democracy from flourishing at the grassroot level.
In a handout issued here today, national executive member of BJP and former State President Dr. Nimal Singh has said that the real India lives in villages and non-seriousness on part of the successive state governments to implement 73rd and 74th amendments has devoid development and prosperity of the rural areas.
Nirmal Singh was addressing a BJP cadres conference at Ramban under its district level programmes on the current Kashmir situation alongwith State Vice-president Bali Bhagat, party MLA Bharat Bhushan, State Secretary Yudhvir Sethi and other leaders. He said that demand of autonomy is like day dreaming while adding that BJP is a strong opposition party and will never allow the Congress to commit one more mistake to appease a handful of Kashmiris.
Reiterating party’s demand to abrogate Article-370, Singh said that special status has done more harm than any gain to the state as well as its citizens. This Article-370 has induced a sense of separatism and the successive Kashmiri leaders have used it as a tool to exploit the people of the state and black-mail the centre, added Singh.
Bali Bhagat said that despite tall claims of development, most of the areas across district Ramban and its neighbour hilly districts lack proper road and communication facilities. He said that record breaking funds are being provided by the Union Government as well as various agencies as special packages for hilly and undeveloped areas but to no avail.
Party MLA Bharat Bhushan said that the 11 MLAs have been unitedly raising the public related issues inside the assembly as well as outside and it is due to our pressure that the present government dares not to take any decision which may invite resentment in Jammu. Yudhvir Sethi, in his address, said that some vested interests are exploiting youth of the valley to indulge in stone pelting. District president Ramesh Sharma and other senior leaders including Shyam Singh Katoch, Rajiv Charak, Naseeb Singh, Shashi Pal, Rashpal Singh, Yograj, Narad Singh and Ved Bhushan also addressed the conference.
