NCC cadets hold cycle rally | Brig.Anil Gupta superannuating on Aug 31 | | Early Times Report JAMMU AUG 28: Deputy Director General NCC Directorate Jammu and Kashmir Brigadier Anil Gupta, Dy DG is retiring on August 31, 2010 after putting in 36 years of dedicated service to the army. He has served as Deputy Director General NCC for a short stint of one and half years from March 2009. During his tenure, Directorate has marked a niche for itself by showing a marked improvement in its performance over the years. From 16th position, Jammu and Kashmir Directorate stood overall 9th in the Republic Day Parade held at Delhi in January 2010. Directorate also won Best Directorate General Proficiency and Mandatory condition trophy and overall Best All Round Improvement Trophy. Brigadier Anil Gupta as the son of soil took extra initiative in pursuing the long pending issues pertaining to up gradation of NCC units and new rising. His constant interaction with civil dignitaries of state and staff at all levels paid dividends and sanction was obtained to upgrade three NCC units and also raised three NCC Army Units at Udhampur, Kupwara and Leh, One Air Squadron at Awantipur, One Naval Unit at Mansar and One Group HQ at Udhampur. To commemorate the occasion a cycle rally was also organized as part of “My Earth My Duty Campaign”. The rally was commenced on 24th of august 2010 from Bhaderwah and was flagged in at NCC directorate Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday by the Deputy Director General. 20 NCC cadets and two Associate NCC Officers from different schools and colleges of Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar Districts take part in this Cycle Expedition from Bhaderwah to Jammu. The main motive of the rally was to spread the message of awareness about the preservation and protection of the environment and to inculcate a spirit of adventure among the NCC Cadets.
