Quarterfinals line-up drawn in U-19 football | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 28: With the entry of host and title holder, district Jammu as also Srinagar, Budgam and Baramullah in knock-out stages, the last eight position has been cleared in the ongoing boys’ under-19 football tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at twin venues of GGM Science College and MA Stadium, here today. While Jammu topped pool-D with two wins and a draw, Srinagar won all the three games to remain at No.1 position in group-A. Similarly, in pool-B, district Baramulla topped with two wins, while Budgam, with two wins and a draw, topped the group-C. Other four teams qualifying for the quarterfinals are Udhampur, Kathua, Poonch and Bandipora from groups a, b, c and d respectively. Now, with the league round of the competition is over, the quarterfinals shall be played tomorrow, followed by the semifinals and the final scheduled for August 31. Earlier, in the league match, played today, Jammu defeated Kishtwar 5-1. Rahul Ghai scored two goals while Lakhwinder Singh, Rakesh Bhagat and Bahadur contributed one each. From Kishtwar, Khalid reduced the margin. In the second match of the day, Jammu held Bandipora to a 2-2 draw. Meanwhile, in girls section, only two teams turned up for the competition resulting into the organizers made it a best of three event. In the first match, district Jammu defeated district Srinagar by a solitary goal. The only goal was scored by Mehak Pandita.
