| Deepakshi makes it double with Jr girls’ title | | Jammu District Badminton Championship | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 28: After winning the juniors girls doubles gold, Deepakshi today lifted the junior girls singles title outplaying Akanksha in straight sets in the final of the ongoing 25th Jammu District Badminton Championships at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
Deepakshi dominated the court through his power-packed shots and drops throughout to make it a straight set win with score reading 21-17, 21-14.
In the meantime, Ramesh Sharma clinched the veteran singles final beating Balbir Jamwal in easy straight sets 21-09, 21-11. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Ramesh defeated Anil Gorkha 21-12, 21-08 and Balbir beat Vipin Sharma 21-17, 21-12.
Later, Ramesh, pairing with Ashish Sharma lost to Raju Chawla and Rajesh Gupta in the veteran doubles final 16-21, 17-21.
Meanwhile, Avnish Sharma and Vikram Saini have made it into the men’s singles final beating their opponent in straight sets in the semi-finals. While Avnish beat Vasu Bhagat 21-18, 21-14, Vikram defeated Sahil Sharma 21-16, 21-10.
In the men’s doubles event, Avnish and Rahul Sharma shall be playing against Sahil and Vikram for the title clash tomorrow. In the semi-finals, played today, Avnish and Rahul beat Vivek and Anil 21-10, 21-15 while Sahil and Vikram defeated the pair of Vasu and Aman Badyal 21-16, 21-04.
The sub-junior girls’ title went to Diksha Mahajan, who beat Tanjula Shair 13-21, 21-15, 21-19. Later, in sub-junior girls final, the pair of Tanjula and Gagandeep turned the tables against Diksha and Arushi beating latter 21-06, 21-11.
In sub-junior boys doubles final, Paramveer and Parth beat Ayush and Sarvgya 16-21, 21-18, 21-18.
Meanwhile, according to the organizers, the finals and prize distribution function shall take place tomorrow at 4 pm.
