Prof. Saleem Ayaz Rather8/28/2010 10:14:15 PM
Ziarat Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah RA is located in mid north edge of District Rajouri , a border district of Jammu &Kashmir state. This Holy and sacred pilgrim tourist spot is about 182 km from Jammu and 30km from Rajouri and 6km from Thannamandi. Regular bus service ply between Rajouri and shahdara sharief and 68km from poonch via Dehra ki gali.
Baba Ghulam shah Badshah covered his spirtual journey from sayeed kasran punjab in pakistan to shahdara sharief in 22years and while coming Baba sahib took a goat along with him from Bhangai,A village in Thannamandi and entered the forests of sein dara. Before the arrival of saint, Sein dara was the name of this village and after that the name was changed to shahdara sharief. The word sein means Lion While as Dara means pass. Thus sein dara means living place of lions. When Baba sahib reached shahdara sharief, A lion appeared suddenly Baba sahib left the goat according to his Murshid’s desire. Lion and goat had seven rounds of the place and then suddenly disappeared. Baba sahib dug the place for five days continuously and finally saw the fire, He said,Alhamdo Lilla this is the place where I had to reach and I am successful in my goal. Baba sahib ordered men to cut down the trees of the forest so as to start a lunger for devotees which is still going on the same place and will continue in future.
It is said that once Baba sahib was sitting close to the ‘Much’ (burning fire) and a piece of wood was not catching fire (that is it did not burn at all ) Baba sahib became angry and threw that piece of wood saying if you cannot burn keep on fruiting (Baldi NahinTe phaldi Ro) and ultimately this piece of wood grew in to an evergreen fruit plant which bears fruits and leaves through out the year and is not effected at all by a change in season. The fruits are orange or yellow in colour when ripe some are green also no one can touch them nor can take them until and unless it naturally falls into the lap of the person sitting under this plant. This fruit is considered to be auspicious and issueless couples are given 2&1/2 part of leaves of this plant to eat and it is believed that issueless couples are blessed with children. Not only this, fruit of this plant is placed in the grain containers like rice, maize, wheat etc.and it is believed that this fruit enhances the life of grains and also saves them from deterioration, also adds flavour to the grains this is why a large no. of people mostly women are seen sitting on the circular path built at the base of this plant spreading their lap with a hope that a fruit of miracle may land in their lap, some even remain waiting morning till evening. The final stair leading to Ziarat lands us into a lawn that houses this ever green fruit plant also commonly known as Sada phal. A renowned educationist and former principal A.S.Bahar says, “During my tenure as education officer in 1995 I was in shahdara sharief in connection with the inspection of schools after my job was over I went to pay obeisance at ziarat Shahdara Sharief an interesting event which I had never witnessed before was that a large no of ladies were waiting at the base of the plant that a fruit will land in their lap sooner or later suddenly a lady appeared on the final stair she like other ladies also sat down on the circular path hardly she had spread her lap and a fruit fell down from the top of the plant in to her lap she was over joyed and left the place other ladies were surprised to see this miracle who had been waiting since morning.’’
