'Congress ready to facilitate dialogue process in Kashmir' | United Cong must for strong, stable coalition: Soz | | EARLY TIMES REPORT EARLY TIMES REPORT Samba, Aug 28: Underlining the need for settling Kashmir imbroglio imperative for lasting peace in the state, President JKPCC and former Union Minister Prof. Saifuddin Soz today said Congress would play the role of a facilitator in the dialogue process and discussions to evolve consensus for solution. Soz said Congress favoured a vigorous dialogue between various groups and different shades of opinion in the state as well as the centre to find a solution to Kashmir issue, acceptable to the three regions of the state. He also called for unity within the party which he asserted was necessary for strong and stable coalition in the state. "Congress is ready to discuss any proposal of any party……the party is already making all out efforts to break the deadlock and stalemate on all fronts ", Prof Soz said while addressing a day long session of Congress delegates from all parts of district Samba. Congress is concerned over the situation in Kashmir and its role in ensuring lasting peace becomes all the more important as it is major ally in coalition government of the state, he added. Prof. Soz, an MP who is the senior most member of the coordination committee (set up for better, smooth relations between the alliance partners), also stressed the need for making coalition stronger so that it is able to deliver effectively. " Strengthening Congress is our primary responsibility, as a strong Congress is a guarantee for a strong and stable coalition in the state……it is the duty and responsibility of every Congressmen to work for strengthening the party, only then the coalition would be strong in the state", veteran leader observed, in an apparent reference to the factionalism in the party. However, claiming that the both the coalition partners were in perfect harmony , Prof Soz expressed satisfaction over what he said there is understanding amongst the coalition partners on all fronts and the coalition is running smoothly. "This spirit of coalition must percolate down to the grass root level also and the senior leaders especially ministers in the coalition have to be careful in their day today working so that interests of the coalition are promoted by serving the people to their expectations", the JKPCC Chief said. In what can be seen as word of advise to the ministers, Soz said they( ministers) should respect to the sentiments of workers of their respective parties as well of the coalition partners. The coalition works on the principles of mutual faith and respect, he added. The J&K PCC chief said this apparently in response to the observations made by a series of prominent local leaders who expressed that Congress workers were being ignored in various respects despite being in the coalition. The crowd of supporters and workers was enthusiastic and responded with zeal to the assertions of the party chief. The delegates bearing Congress badges and tricolor Congress caps too were enthusiastic over the presence of almost all senior leaders of the party in the session and repeatedly raised slogans in favour of Congress party, AICC President Smt. Sonia Gandhi and PCC President Saifuddin Soz. The session was organized by District Congress Committee Samba under the presidentship of Parkash Sharma (Ex-MLA) and DCC President and addressed by senior functionaries of PCC besides ministers in the coalition government. Reiterating the need for a 'united' Congress, Prof. Soz asked the partymen to work unitedly and dedicate themselves to the service of people. "This is the message of Congress president Sonia Gandhi……….", he said, asserting in a subtle way that working in divided groups and factions was not 'desired' by the party high command. The senior leaders and ministers highlighted the achievements of the Congress led UPA government at the centre and said that centre has been extending liberal financial support for overall development of all parts and three regions of the state. The Congress leadership in the country and the centre government are keen for the progress and prosperity of the state. The coalition government in the state is also making every endeavor to ensure equitable development of all parts. They asked Congress workers and delegates to be aware of the false propaganda of some political parties who have no. |
