Dialogue only way to resolve all problems in Kashmir :Bansal | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 29 : Describing the Kashmir situation not so worse'', special secretary, Internal Security, Union Ministry of Home Affairs, U K Bansal today said peaceful dialogue was the only way to resolve all problems. ''The situation in the Kashmirvalley is not so worse that we use harsh force'', he told reporters here, adding, the situation will improve. Bansal said he had come here only to hear from people, including media persons, about the situation. ''Though I am not authorised to speak, but I must say that dialogue was the only way forward to resolve all the problems,'' he said. Problems could also not be resolved by the use of force or putting group leaders in custody, Bansal said. About the role of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in recent disturbances, Bansal said they (CRPF) are at the disposal of the state government. The CRPF is working under the directions of the Jammu and Kashmir police, he said, adding, the deployment and other decision about the force is taken by them (police). He said the Centre was not interfering into the day to day affairs of the state government. About the recent threats to sikhs, he said some leaders of the community met him.
Bansal called on Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra yesterday and briefed him about the measures taken for restoration of peace in the Kashmir valley.
Official sources said during an hour-long meeting, Bansal discussed with him the overall security situation in the State. He briefed the Governor about the various issues relating to obtaining environment security in Jammu and Kashmir and certain important matters which have a bearing on internal security maintenance. Bansal, who arrived here on August 27, was briefed by senior officers of paramilitary forces and state police about the law and order situation in the state, particularly in the Kashmir valley.
