BJP dares NC to reveal credentials of its governance in valley | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 29: Bharatiya Janta Party has dared the present incumbency having National Conference as coalition to the government to explain its people in valley about its U-turn towards autonomy despite securing votes for present governance. BJP Legislators Party leader Chaman Lal Gupta has asked that first these coalition leaders should explain to the countrymen that what has gone wrong that the people of the Valley, who had voted to power this Government by exercising their right of franchise in a big way just about 20 months back, have now risen to revolt that this dispensation has been paralysed to the extent that all the nationalists have been taken hostages by the anti-national elements making the whole life miserable. The prevailing situation shows that either NC-Congress coalition is incompetent and incapable to govern or they are in league with the trouble-makers to black mail New Delhi, he alleged and observed in both the cases the Governor should act to perform his constitutional obligations. Addressing a meeting of the party activists of his Jammu West Assembly Constituency, he said that a grave situation is prevailing in the Valley of Kashmir and several Kashmiris, who met him, have explained their slogans of Azadi that they want to get rid of National Conference-Congress family rulers who have ruled the roost for so many years by making false and misleading promises, so much so, that they would provide at least one job to each family and make them prosperous. “This type of cheating has led to unprecedented anger which in being exploited by anti-India elements,” he said. As far as Pakistan is concerned, the BJP leader said that the forces hostile to India including Pakistan were never friendly but whenever there were internal weaknesses, these enemies have been exploiting the situation to their nefarious ends. He said that Jammu and Kashmir is already having a separate Constitution and flag, and any more autonomy would mean more secessionism and problems for the people of this State who have been deprived of many of their democratic and other rights because the separate constitution which provides unbridled powers to the ruling junta of this State. Gupta especially pointed out that taking advantage of this so-called special status even the basic democracies have been made a mockery. The Panchayats and local bodies have not been empowered by extending the 73rd and 74th amendments of the Indian Constitution despite promising by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh as far back as in 2007. The BJP leader maintained that the slogans of Autonomy, Self-Rule and that of Azadi were the outcome of communal thinking and the country cannot afford any more communal division as the results of 1947 division are still causing pains and problems. The meeting was held to review the prevailing situation of the State and create awareness amongst the masses about the genesis of prevailing turmoil in the Valley.
