Erly Times Report
Jammu, Aug 29: ‘Heer ka Dukhant’ a new play in Hindi written by Harsaran Singh and directed by Neeraj Kant was staged at Natrang studio theatre in its Sunday theatre series.
The famous love saga was presented in a new dimension in intimate theatre style which not only revealed history but also the eternal dilemma connected with the relationships.
In the play Heer ka Dukhant, the same has been unfolded before the audience even with the further instances which occur after the marriage of ‘Heer’ to ‘Saidah’.
In the house of her in-laws, Heer is not happy as she can not forget her real love, ‘Ranjha’.
She shares her ideas about ‘pure love’ with her sister-in-law, ‘Saheeti’, who instructs her to forget all these emotions and start living a new life practically.
Heer’s husband is also apprehensive about the gloomy nature of the newly wed bride, he tries to poke her to get the reality whether she had some amorous relationships with someone, which she declines, he further quests the same from his sister who informs him that in some conversations, ‘Heer’ has admitted her very close friendship with ‘Ranjha’.
At this time ‘Ranjha’ enters as ‘Fakir’, and discourses about real love, which Heer & Saheeti do not approve of.
Frustrated, jealous & lost, Heer’s husband tells her to go with that ‘Fakir’ if she can live happy after that, which she declines saying that now I can not live with anyone happily and she runs away all alone.
Those who acted in the play include Renu Sharma as ‘Heer’, Mohit Sharma as ‘Ranjha’, Pankush Verma as ‘Saidah’ and Niharika Sharma as ‘Saheeti’.
Lights were designed by Rahul Singh & Mayank Bakshi and the music was arranged by Rohit Verma. Props were arranged by Mohd. Yaseen. The show was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma. Gaurav Jamwal did the presentation.
