| Tithwal Brigade organizes VDC Day | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Aug 29: Under the aegis of Ace Of Spades Division , Tithwal Brigade organised Village Defense Committee (VDC) day at Kalsian in Noushera tehsil on August ,28 & 29. The function was inagurated by Brig A K Bhat commander Tithwal Brigade and he welcomed the members of various VDCs.the Tithwal Brigade under the aegis of Ace Of Spades Division organized two day Gram Rakshaks Diwas, Village Defense Committee (VDC), at Kalsian in Noushera sector on August 28 & 29 .The function was inagurated by Brig AK Bhat commander Tithwal Brigade and he welcomed the members of various VDCs.
On the concluding day the function was chaired by Maj General Om Parkash SM, GOC Infantry Division, and beside large number of prominent citizens SD Singh Jamwal DIG police ,GA Khawaja DC were also present on the occasion.
Brigadier Bhat said that the aim of the function was to provide a common platform to share the views and enhance the potential of the concept of the Village Defense Committees with the ultimate aim of maintain peace and fostering prosperity in the region.
On this occasion a number of training events, including tug of war, were also conducted and those who exceed in various competitions were presented with the medals.
Addressing the gathering, the GOC complimented one and all for their committed efforts and augured them to maintain the spirit, with the ultimate aim of bringing peace, prosperity and stability to the region. In his address the General also recollected the genesis of the concept of VDC and appreciated them for the laudable contribution rendered by them to the region over the years. In his address the GOC while specifically thanking the elderly VDC members also requested them to look for suitable youngsters (Shagirds) of their choice who could take over the onerous responsibility as and when they decide to call it quits.
During the sammelan all the VDCs were presented with jackets and caps with the logo of VDC, Nowshera. Tea and refreshments were organised at the end of the event during which the VDC members had an opportunity of interacting with the GOC
