SKUAST 16th ASS 1st ISAT symposium at Thailand | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 29: The 16th Asian Agricultural Symposium (AAS) and 1st International Symposium on Agricultural Technology (ISAT) “Sufficiency Agriculture” organized form August 25 to 27 by Tokai University, Japan in collaboration with the King Mongkuts’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Bangkok on the 50th Anniversary of KMITL at Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Mahital Jamwal, Assistant Professor in the Division of Fruit Science of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu attened the 16th AAS & 1st ISAT at Faculty of Agricultural Technology, KMITL, Bangkok, for demonstrating the scope of totipotency (Haberlandt, 1902) and presented the research paper on nodal segments for in vitro propagation of grape cv. Perlette. Besides the informative discussions among the participants fomr different countries of the world for research and development activities for sufficiency in Agriculturre. The participats had a visit to the Royal Chitralada Agricultural Projects in the premises of Royal Family where his majesty the King had iimplemented diverse range of research and experimentation in agricultural activities like fish farming the Java Tilapia species, rice mill and rice-husk compressing plant, the dairy plant and fresh milk, renewable evergy, soilless plant culture, candle factory for the royal use, spilurina production for food supplement and snacks, etc since 1962 for the happiness and betterment of his people. The books of abstracts and Proceedings on the 16th ASS & 1st ISAT were released in which the abstracts and full length research papers has been published from the participants form India, Japan, Libya, Malaysia, Pakistan, Iran, Phillipines, Bangladesh, Australia, Egypt, Russia, Taiwan, Thailand, Indoesia, Sweden and other countries. The report and welcome address in the symposium was made by Dr. Sakchai Choochote (Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, KMITL) and Dr. Kitti Tirasesth (President, KMITL), respectively, while the opening addresses were made by Dr. Jiro Takano, the Chancellor of Tokai University and H.E Gen. Surayud Chulanont, the Chancellor of KMITL. During the closing ceremony of the symposium at dinner in Novotel Suvarnbhumi airport Hotel, Privy Councilor Gen. Surayud Chulanont presented the vote of thanks to the participants form different parts of the world. The next AAS and ISAT will be held in 2013 in Japan in its routine schedule of three years.
