Lecture on nephro-diseases held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Aug 30: A lecture on the diseases related to nephrology was conducted by Dr S K BNqali, Associate professor and nephrology, Government Medical College. In his address, two important kidney diseases viz Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) and Rapidly Progressive Glomerulonephritis (RPGN) were discussed by Dr S K Bali who dwelt in length about the causes, symptoms and remedies of such diseases which he said have become very common among the people. Dr Bali informed that Polycystic Kidney Diseeas alos known as ADPKD is a common genetic disease which affects 1 in 1000 individuals world wide. “ Poluysistic Kidney FDiseas is characetrised by progressive cyst formation in Kifdneys which destroys normal kidney architecture and ultimately causes chronic kidney failure ,” said Dr Bali while elaborating on the likely development of the disease. He said that such development also can cause high blood pressure, blood in urine, abdominal swelling and pain. “These cysts can also involve other organs like liver and moreover brain hemorrhage can also occur in small number of cases,” said Dr Bali. He however, emphasized upon the need of early diagnose so that proper management can be done to halt the progression to chronic kidney failure. The meeting was attended by number of prominent doctors including Dr Mohal, HOD Cardiology, Dr Gurjeet Singh HOD CTVS Deptt, Dr T R Raina HOD blood bank, Drv Sunil Gupta, urologist, Dr Sunil Sharma, MD Physician and Dr Gurmeet Singh, rheumatologist.
