PDP leaders all fire on Abdullah family | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 30: Peoples Democratic Party has regretted union minister and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah’s reported efforts to allegedly ridicule the sentiment of people by linking their struggle with power politics. In a statement issued here today, party general secretary Dilawar Mir and deputy party leader in the state Assembly Abdul Rehman Veeri said that National Conference (NC) was trying to divert attention from the painful ground situation in Kashmir by accusing the opposition of engineering protests. Mir and Veeri said for some time the National Conference leaders claimed that the number of casualties in the Amarnath land row was higher than the figure achieved by Omar Abdullah government. This unfortunate comparison of dead bodies of our own youngsters is unfortunate and should be condemned. However, they said that the ruling family has now revised their target, added the two. Leaders said nothing could be farther from truth and insulting to the people than attributing the current crisis to use of money. “Money can buy luxuries and properties around the world as Farooq knows well but not lives of young people who have been facing bullets in pursuit of justice” the leaders reminded the union minister. They said that even though Farooq Abdullah has now lost even the last shred of credibility and public decency while adding that PDP finds it necessary to condemn his utterances, which question sacrifices of the people since June this year. Mir and Veeri said at a time when serious efforts are required to address basic issues confronting people of Kashmir valley, Abdullah’s are trying to introduce elements of distraction.
