NC leader peeved over shortage of staff in hospitals | Outbreak of Gastroenteritis | | Early Times Report BANIHAL, Aug 30: National Conference (NC) leaders have expressed serious concern over the outbreak of water-borne diseases in several parts of district Doda. In a handout issued here today, National Conference (NC) leader and district secretary for Ramban district Sajjad Shaheen expressed serious concern over the spread of water-borne diseases in tehsil Banihal of district Ramban. He added that a number of cases have been reported from several villages of Banihal including Kaskoot, Zinhal, Asshar, Lamber, Phagoo, Dooligam,Nawkoot and Bohargam. He added that such patients require immediate intensive medical treatment. Shaheen visited village Kaskoot and took stock of the situation. He said that the situation in village kaskoot and Phagoo is worst and there is panic among people. Shaheen said that the disease is fast turning into an epidemic and if drastic and immediate measures are not taken well in time, it will engulf the whole district. Shaheen has appealed government for immediate deployment of specialized teams of doctors, Para-medical staff, health workers and sufficient stock of medicines should be made available in the affected areas. He also appealed Public Health Department to ensure supply of clean drinking water in tehsil Banihal.
