Army call youth to help in nation building
Organizes Inter-School Quiz Competition for Poonch children

Rajouri, Aug 30: Appealing students to come forward in nation building Brig VK Adappa, Commander, Bhimbergali Brigade of army has said that if youth will shun violence everything will start functioning normally.
Addressing students on the occasion of function organized to pay tribute to Major Akash Singh who laid his life for nation in the area last year said that students are the future of nation and they must be guided properly for nation building. He added that the role of youth in restoring peace is essential and they should come forward and shun path of violence.
Brig Adappa mentioned that events like Quiz Competition organized by the Army are undertaken with the aim of overall development of the region and to join the younger generation and economically backward people near the border areas with the national mainstream.
He also urged them to contribute whole-heartedly towards the positive development and grooming of these young children to ensure a better future.
Earlier Barasingha Battalion, under the aegis of Krishnaghati Brigade had organized an Inter-School Quiz Competition for the children of selected Government Middle Schools, in and around Mendhar Tehsil of Poonch District.
The competition was organized in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice made by Late Maj Akash Singh, Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous), of Barasingha Battalion, in September last year.
A total of five schools participated in the event, which was presided over by Brig VK Adappa, SM, Commander, Bhimbergali Brigade. Winner of the competition, Model Academy, Sagra, was awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000/- by Mrs Deepti Samyal, wife of Late Maj Akash Singh, Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous) who, alongwith Parents of Maj Akash was specially invited for the occasion from Jammu.
Runner-Up of the Competition Govt High School, Jhalas came a close Second and bagged as cash prize of Rs 5,000/-. Special consolation prizes were given to all the participating children. The function was also attended by civil dignitaries incl SDM, Tehsildar, Dy SDPO Mendhar. The Civilian dignitaries appreciated the assistance and endeavours of the Barasingha Battalion, KG Brigade and the Army as such, in inculcating competitive spirit amongst the younger generation in such remote and far flung areas.
