India should not surrender its territory: Arora
8/30/2010 9:17:07 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 30: Confused policies and cheap politics to gain popularity in respective pockets of vote bank are responsible for present unrest in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. This was stated by BJP State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora.
He asked the State Government to pass a resolution against handing over large area of Gilgti-Baltistan to China, where China has virtually taken over control and deputed large scale army.
“Constitution of J&K have power to define territory under the State Constitution and we have also reserved 24 Assembly seats for PoK in our constitution of J&K State,” he mentioned and added that resolution of 1994, unanimously passed by Parliament of India says the only dispute with Pak is to get back the illegally occupied Kashmir.
“When both the Constitutions of India and State, clearly indicated that PoK is part of India than it becomes our moral, ethical and legal duty to condemn transferring of such area to China” he said adding India is also a super power with nuclear capability and capacity, should not surrender their territory and all possible measures should be taken to defend the same.
Arora said why State Assembly is silent over the issue. He suggested that a resolution should be moved by the chair and be passed unanimously raising voice against transfer of land to China and should also resolve and condemn, the already transferred Korakaram passage/area to China including the recent transfer of area Gilgit-Baltistan.
Arora appealed to all the parties to raise this issue irrespective of their differences in Assembly. This type of encroachment by China with connivance of Pakistan is not in the interest of State. Political leaders have every right to have different views and ideology with respect to different issues regarding State affairs but it is common issue and all should stand united, he said.
