| Jammu faces Budgam in football final today | | Inter-district state level under-19 football tourney | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 30: District Jammu shall take on Budgam to retain the title in the inter-district state level under-19 football tournament being organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Jammu defeated the visiting boys from district Srinagar by a solitary goal. Jammu took the early advantage of taking first lead and then well defended the goal to emerge winner.
The all important goal came through Rakesh Roshan in the 11th minute. Later, the goal-keeper played brilliant game for Jammu and saved as many as five goal attempts on the net.
Later, in the second semi-final, Budgam district trounced their counterparts from Bandipura by a similar margin of 1-0. The only goal of the match came in the second half after a barren first half. Nasir was the man who scripted Budgam win netting the ball in the 67th minute.
Now, the final between district Jammu and district Budgam shall take place tomorrow at 9.30 at the same venue.
Prominent among those who witnessed today’s semi-finals were Deputy Directors, Gulshan Ara, S S Bali, Assistant Directors, Ashok Kumar, Khalida Jabeen, Jai Raj, A R Dar, Mohd Din and Tirath Ram.
