Some of Valley papers also join tirade against Pandits, Jagmohan term movement secular | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 30: Giving a new turn to the so called Kashmir movement the separatists and anti-nationals call the minority Pandits who were hounded out from the Valley by the terrorists and fundamentalist elements on the behest of Pakistan and its Inter Service Intelligence in 1989-90 as the worst enemies of the ongoing struggle. According to sources the media in Kashmir has also joined the anti KP tirade launched by the separatists against the minority Pandits whom they term as the agents of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on whose directives the Pandits in different parts of India and abroad tried to give the communal colour to present movement launched by separatists in Valley. The sources said some news papers in Kashmir are daily carrying articles in support of the present movement and ongoing strike called by Hurriyat after terming it a struggle launched by Kashmiris for their pride and honour. The reports and articles carried by some weeklies in Kashmir said that Sikhs have no grievances against the majority community in the Valley but these were some Indian agents who tried to create a wedge between the two communities. Some papers carry the reports and photographs with the statements of Hurriyat hardliner supremo Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Moderate Hurriyat chief Moulvi Umer Farooq and senior separatist leader, Shabir Ahmed Shah stressing on Muslim -Sikh unity in Kashmir. Geelani has been shown talking to Sikh delegation in Valley who called on him recently with his appeal to the people to maintain communal amity and peace. While Shabir Ahmed Shah and Moulvi Omar call for bridging the gap between Muslims and Sikhs to give a secular colour to Kashmir movement. The reports however term the migrant Pandits as the worst enemies of the movement who left the Kashmir on the behest of then Governor Jagmohan to give a communal colour to the movement. The Jagmohan has been called the brain child of the Pandits migration from Valley saying the Muslims have no hand in it. Castigating both Pandits and Jagmohan the reports said that no Pandit was harmed by the Muslims in 1989-90 but they framed the concocted stories to join the anti Muslim tirade in other parts of the Valley. The reports said though 80 percent Pandits left Kashmir on their own the remaining 20 percent who preferred to stay put in Valley are living in complete peace and harmony with majority community. The Trade Union leader HN Wanchoo who also was hand in glove with the separatist Hurriyat and later on fell to the bullets of terrorists over 10 years back has been called the martyr. The news paper reports further said that Wanchoo who fought against the human rights violations by India in Valley was eliminated by Indian agencies. This propaganda is galore in Kashmir nowadays to give the on going movement a secular colour forgetting that from its inception in 1989 the militants engaged themselves in selective killings by targeting the minority Hindus in different parts of the Valley creating a fear psychosis among its members. Even the posters were pasted on walls and letters like present were thrown in various KP houses asking them to leave the Valley or face death. Not only this but the open news paper statements and advertisements were carried by some of the Valley papers asking Pandits to vacate Kashmir within 24 hours in 1989 and still the separatists call themselves the champions of secularism which they never are nor will be said, a KP activist Virender Kuchroo. He said hundreds of KPs were killed including some prominent Pandit leaders like Tika Lal Taploo, Prem Nath Bhat, Ashok Qazi by the terrorists. Besides the Wandhhama, Chatisingpora, Sangrampora and Nadimarg episodes are still afresh in our minds and how can we forget this and believe that Geelani and his men have turned secular over night which he neither is nor will be. Kuchroo said the statements and stories being planted in press is only a face saving to befool the people but such things can't change the opinion of people against the Kashmir movement that has been started with communal considerations in mind. |
