Exclusive employment package for K-valley would be catastrophic: Harshdev | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 3: Jammu and Kashmir National Panther Party (JKNPP) has taken strong exception to the proposed move of the union government of announcing an exclusive employment package for the surrendered militants including these who have served their sentence. This was stated by working chairman of the party Harshdev Singh while addressing a press conference here today. He said that the move was disastrous and fraught with dangerous portends which could have far reaching ramifications. Singh said that any exclusive announcements for militants or surrendered militants or for these who have served their sentence would tantamount to humiliating nationalist forces besides having a cascading effect on the morals of the other eligible meritorious unemployed youth in various parts of the state. Cautioning the centre as well as the state government of indulging in any sort of misadventure or one sided approach at the present crucial juncture, Singh called for a comprehensive and an all inclusive package to address the concerns of all regions of the state and to satisfy the urges and aspirations of the people of all the three regions namely Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. He said that any employment package could not be confined to a particular section or region and had to be extended to all regions providing equal opportunities to all eligible unemployed youth and selections made in a transparent manner. He said that the escalation of tensions and recurrence of crisis could largely be attributed to un-ethical and unfair practices resorted to by helmsmen from time to time and urged upon the government to refrain from playing with the sentiments of the unemployed youth and to accord equitable treatment and justice to all unemployed youth. He demanded utmost transparency in all selections and severe action against backdoor appointments including those made in the past. Harshdev Singh said that unemployment issue was required to be tackled in all its manifestations, dimensions and forms and at various levels. He said the government had held out assurances on score of occasions promising jobs to unemployed youth and absorbing at least one member of each family in government job, but nothing was done to concretize the announcements giving rise to unrest and resentment amongst the unemployed youth. JKNPP leaders Harsh Dev Singh, Balwant Singh Mankotia and Yash Paul Kundal further ridiculed 'Employment Policy' said to have been modified by government and termed the same as another fraud and treachery played on the unemployed youth of the state. They said it was not understandable as to how an increase of Rs.100 in 'Voluntary Service Allowance' could benefit the unemployed youth of the state who were required to fulfill the most rigorous criteria to seek entitlement under the scheme. Making special mention of certain categories of unemployed youth, the JKNPP leaders said that the government had assured the time bound absorption of Agriculture Graduates, ITI Trained Youth, Degree and Diploma holder Engineers, Social Forestry and Architecture Graduates besides other professionals who were on streets and had been agitating for their absorption for the last several years.
