| Interstate gang of mobike-lifters busted; two held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
RS PURA,Sept 3: Busting an interstate gang of motorcycle lifters, police arrested two youth here today and recovered 24 stolen mobikes from them.
DSP HS Gill identified them as Malkiat Singh, son of Lakhbir Singh of Pugwal in Batala, Punjab, and Narinder Singh, son of Jagir Singh of Kalyana, RS Pura.
Gill said Popinder Singh of Kotli Arjun Singh lodged a report with RS Pura police station on August 5 last wherein he said his motorcycle (JK02U/9098) had been stolen by someone from outside the Punjab National Bank in the RS Pura market.
He said during routine checking by police at Kotli Shahdaula, cops caught hold of Malkiat and recovered Popinder's motorcycle from him.
His interrogation led cops to the recovery of 21 more motorcycles which he had stolen from different Punjab areas and sold them here.
At Narinder's instance, police recovered two stolen motorcycles, the DSP added.
Gill said the stolen mobikes were recovered by a police team headed by RS Pura police station SHO, Inspector Gurmeet Singh. The team worked under the supervision of SP (headquarter) JS Johar, he added. |
