Shut down at Thathri | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KISHTWR,Sept 3: Complete shut down in Thathri over the suicide of a local driver over the alleged police harassment passed off peacefully today. The call for shut down was given by the people of Thatri. The business establishment and educational institutions remained closed, and the vehicles went off from the road. However on the timely action of police authorities and handing over the Magistrate enquiry to SDM Gundoh, and cash assistance as well as employment in Police to NOK of deceased the shut down was called off after half day . In the morning the drivers of the locality supported by the people sat on Kishtwar Batote NH and raised slogans. Another local driver namely Mohammad Hussain son of Haji Kaloo resident of Pashalla was mercilessly beaten by a group of drivers who was observing strike in support of Thathri Shut down , when he was driving his vehicle Tata Sumo bearing No: JK06-2325 near Dunadi Bunjwah, in which he sustained serious injuries, and was brought to Emergency Hospital Thathri in unconscious condition, wherefrom he was referred to District Hospital Kishtwar. He was brought to District Hospital Kishtwar by his relatives where he was responding to the treatment . The relatives of injured driver have lodged complaint with Police Station Kishtwar . Meanwhile the Matadoor, Cruser Operators Union Kishtwar also lodged 2 hours long protest at Kishtwar under the leadership of Wali Mohd Giri President Kishtwar Matadoor Cruser Operators Union, and demanded strict action against the involved police officials, they also alleged that the Police in the garb of uniform including traffic police are un-necessary harassing the innocent drivers on one pretext and on the other, rather demanding un-due favour in so many ways, reacting to the Matadoor Cruser Operators Union Kishtwar, the Traffic police said that the drivers / owners of Matadors are running the matadors without papers and also without making the maintenance of the vehicle, and in order to save the human loss and maintain the traffic rules they are laying the regular check on the vehicles, and not allowing the over load. |
