HM Divisional commander & kingpin of Kishtwar Bank robbery surrender before Kashmir police

KISHTWAR, Sept 3: In a dramatic move, Divisional Commander of local militant outfit Hizbul Mujahdeen and kingpin of 1.06 crore JK bank Kishtwar robbery Firdous Ahmed Mattoo alias Prince of resident of Drabshala Kishtwar surrendered before Kashmir police today at Shrigupara.
According to the reports, Prince remained mostly active in Palmar, Dachhan and Marwah area of Kishtwar District and is planning to surrender before the police since last one year and it was after a hectic negotiation through some top political leader of Kishtwar district, he successfully manage to surrendered before the police in Srinager instead of Kishtwar, as he was involved in many heinous crimes including killings, extortion of money, recruiting the youths into the militancy ranks and wagging war against the nation. He was also involved in much published Jammu and Kashmir bank robbery at Kishtwar, in which he along with HM financial advisor Zahoor Ahmed Kamal robbed 1.06 crore from the strong room of Jammu and Kashmir Bank Kishtwar, the case is still being investigated by crime branch and a Special Investigating Team led by Dy. SP Mohan Lal Thakur and out of the stolen money, approximately 51 Lacs were recovered so far from the 6 accused arrested by the police till date and with the surrendered of Firdous Ahmed Mattoo alias Prince much awaited break through in Kishtwar Bank robbery is expected and subsequently the whereabouts of the left over money could be ascertained.
According to the police, it was due to the pressure exerted by the Kishtwar police, Prince realize that he had left with no option by to offer his willing arrest as his surrender could not be materialized due to his involvement in many grave offences including the killings of security personals as well as that of some innocent local people. As per the surrender policy, only those militants will get the benefit of this policy, who was involved in lesser crime not amounting to murder.
When contacted DIG Doda-Kishtwar range Manish Kishore Sinha said that after getting proper information regarding the surrender/apprehension of Firdous Ahmed Mattoo aliasprince from the concerned police Station, where he has supposed to be apprehended or surrendered, they will seek his custody in various cases pending against him various police stations at Kishtwar District. "We will seek his custody and will trail him in various FIR's registered in Kishtwar District as was applicable under law" DIG Doda-Kishtwar range said.
