'ISI eying on Indian economy!' | RBI stops remittance of Rs 1000 notes in Rajouri, Poonch | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, Sept 3: Following reports that Pakistan's Inter-Service Intelligence might be eying on the economy of India and may cause any damage to financial system, Reserve Bank of India after Government of India guidelines have stopped remittance of Rs1000 currency notes in twin border districts of Rajouri, Poonch as a security measure. On the other hand, fake currency is already found in circulation in Rajouri area with at least Rs 13000 fake notes reportedly found from a SBI Bank ATM counter. However it is yet to be confirmed that all the notes are fake notes, said the concerned Manager contending these have not yet been checked in the test machine. Sources said that Pakistan is already eyeing on the economy of India and efforts are reportedly being made to weaken economy by circulating fake currency notes in India. It is in the wake of these reports Government of India has started taking precautions in this regard and GoI has reportedly advised RBI to stop remittance of Rs 1000 notes to border regions. Sources said that there were reports of misuse of Rs 1000 currency notes by anti-national elements following which Government advised RBI to stop remittance of this notes to the banks falling in border areas. Sources said that acting on the government advice RBI has stopped remittance of Rs 1000 notes to border regions of Rajouri and Poonch. "The step has been taken in view of security reasons", sources said adding that although Rs 1000 currency notes are in circulations in twin border districts, its supply from RBI have been stopped. When contacted, Manager of State Bank of India Satish Bhat admitted that RBI has refused to remit Rs 1000 currency notes to them in Rajouri Poonch. He said that the step has been taken for security reasons. "Although we have machines to check the note, government feel it better to stop its remittance in border areas and it is why RBI stopped remittance of this note to all banks operating in Rajouri Poonch areas", Bhat said. Meanwhile "fake" currency notes of Rs 1000 denominations found in Alpha Gate ATM counter of SBI in Rajouri when a customer withdraw Rs 13000 amount from the State Bank of India. All the notes according to the customer were fake. Sources said that various customers of Bank today get fake currency notes from the ATM machine installed at Apha Gate Rajouri. The notes were denominations of Rs 1000 and atleast 13 such notes were found withdrawn from this counter since morning. As per sources, there is Rs 1.29 lakh transaction recorded in ATM counter since morning among which Rs 13000 are being said as fake currency. These notes are having silver stamp above the notes whereas in original notes, the stamp always found inside the upper layer of the note. There was also no shade of Mahatma Gandhi on the note which was clearly pointing towards its fake. When contacted SBI Manager Satish Bhat said that as SBI has already banned remittance of Rs 1000 notes to the, they used old Rs 1000 notes in the machines and it is difficult to find out the source of these notes if found fake. "I have still not tested these notes and can take further step only when he finds these notes fake", Bhat said adding that there is also possibility of misidentification. |
