Kund Khanadi School sans basic facilities | | | Early Times Report REASI SEP 04: The Government Boys High School, Kund Khenadi in Educational Zone Pouni , lacks basic facilities of potable water and toilets, due to which students and teachers are facing hardships. Though there is jut one water point installed in the school premises that too defunct is catering to 100 students and 8 teachers in the school. The school needs immediate attention of the government and the authorities. “During the summer, we have to beg for water from people who reside nearby or have to remain thirsty”, said a student of class VIII. Head Master of the school Mohammad Rashid said,“ During the summer, the problem gets worsened as the students and the staff face trouble due to the scarcity of the potable water in the school premises.” He said that the school manages the affair by getting water tanks from the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department after many pleadings but that request too is honored sometimes and that too after two or three days. Immediate and permanent solution is required for solving this problem, the school principal said. “We have appealed several times to the PHE Department for daily supply of the water in the school but they are not considering our issue seriously,” added Rashid. Rashid further said though the PHE Department has laid pipes in the school but water comes after three or four days forcing the students to get potable water from the people who reside nearby to the school. Another major problem confronted by the students is that there are no toilets in the school making it almost difficult for the students to use the toilet facility. A student of class VII said, “Due to lack of basic facilities our school has only 100 students at present and we too even want to leave as there are only 3 working teacher it is quite difficult to continue here.” School’s sanitation condition is also not good, as the garbage is seen scattered here and there in the school premises. The school does not have dustbins for dumping garbage. When contacted over phone regarding the matter ZEO Pouni Hira Lal said that he had no idea about the condition of the school, but assured to have looked into the matter at the earliest to resolve the grievances.
