Powergrid donates 250 KVA DG set to SNM hospital at Leh | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sep 4: In keeping with its tradition of voluntarily taking up social causes under Corporate Social Responsibilities, Powergrid fulfilled the need for a 250 KVA DG set in district hospital, Leh which is catering to many injured and critical patients affected by the recent devastating flash floods. V. M. Kaul, director (Personnel) Power Grid Corporation of India Limited handed over 250 KVA diesel generator set to Sonam Norbu Memorial Hospital authorities at Leh in the presence of Minister for Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora , Deputy Commissioner,Leh , senior officers from state, district administration and Powergrid. The installation of this 250 KVA Generator set by Powergrid, is one of the major steps in the relief and rehabilitation work at Leh and it would immensely contribute to mitigating the hardship of suffering people of Leh. In addition to above, Powergrid has also offered to extend its assistance in specific rehabilitation, restoration of public buildings on advise from state authorities. It would be worthwhile to mention that Powergrid, has in the past too stepped readily into the relief and rehabilitation work whenever the state of Jammu & Kashmir has faced such natural calamities. In the aftermath of the earthquake that hit J&K in the year 2005, Powergrid had rushed in relief materials and other assistance to the affected people of Uri. Powergrid is playing a vital role in the state of Jammu & Kashmir through Northern Region Transmission System-II which has regional head quarter at Jammu and is looking after four states comprising of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pardesh, Haryana, Punjab & UT Chandigarh. Powergrid is massively involved in catering to power requirements of these states including the state of J&K.
