4 J&K teachers to get National Award | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 4: Four teachers from the State are among the teachers from all across the country who will be conferred with National Award on the occasion of Teachers Day. The ceremony will take place on September 5 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. President Pratibha Devisingh Patil will give away the awards to these teachers in a special ceremony. Besides J&K, eight teachers from Punjab, five from Himachal Pradesh and three from Chandigarh are also among the teachers who will receive this honour. However, another Northern state Haryana has not recommended any name for the award. The selected teachers from the State include two each from Kashmir and Jammu regions. They are Wali Mohammad Bhat (Master), Government Model School Naina, Pulwama; Abdul Rehman (Master), Government Middle School Dhalwas, Ramban; Fareeda Akhtar (Master), Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Handwara, Kupwara; and Sarishta Sharma (Head Mistress), Government Girls High School, Reshamgarah Colony, Jammu. Teachers Day is being celebrated in memory of great teacher and former President Dr S Radhakrishnan. And, every year on the occasion of Teachers Day selected teachers from all across the country are being honoured for their commendable service and dedication towards the cause of education. |
