| Trikuta College retains men’s badminton trophy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sep 11: Beating the Post Graduate (PG) Departments 3-1 in the final, Trikuta Degree College today retained the men’s trophy in the annual inter-college badminton tournament which concluded today at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, here.
Making a winning start, Naresh won the first singles for Trikuta College outplaying Lokesh in straight sets 21-12, 21-18. However, Amit lost the second singles to Atul Verma of PG 12-21, 09-21 to find the score leveled at 1-1.
Trikuta College again went ahead when Naresh pairing with Vasu clinched the doubles match beating the duo of Atul and Lokesh 21-13, 21-16. Two games up in the best of five final, Vasu Bhagat entered the court with a bit of extra confidence to face Rakesh Verma in reverse singles. Vasu won in straight equal sets 21-12, 21-12 to help his side retain the trophy making it 3-1 in the title clash.

Earlier, member Campus Sports Committee and Head of the Department of English, Prof Posh Charak was special guest in the finals. She interacted with the team members playing in the finals as also officials accompanying the teams.
She was accompanied by Director Sports and Physical Education, JU, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Dr Sonam Angchok, Ramesh Magotra, Romesh Sharma and Dr Brij Baloria.
The matches were officiated by Vikram Jamwal, Ravish Vaid, Tarsem Sharma, Sanjeev Jamwal, Nisha Sharma, Chander Bhushan, Taranpreet Singh.
