Govt’s message to anti-India employees: days of taking us for a ride over
10/22/2016 8:08:05 AM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 21: The government decision to suspend employees indulging in anti-India protests and inciting youth for violence has rattled the separatists’ sympathisers in the official machinery.
Fearing that many more may be fired, they have started showing signs of acknowledging their wrongdoings and are even seemingly ready to apologise for their acts.
Suspended employees have now started saying that they should have been atleast given an audience to place before the concerned Deputy Commissioner to explain their positions. Some have even started saying that they were not part of the activities but were allegedly wrongly implicated.
“This shows that they were least expecting the government to take such a tough call and the things will go as it has been going on in the past. But, little did they realize that things have changed and it will not be business as usual and this is first such step in this directions,” said a senior official.
The government has till now according to the Employees Joint Action Committee suspended about 350 government employees. The committee is also critical of the government’s decision but there are many with in the committee who hold different view about it.
There are about 4 lakh government employees and many of them are from Kashmir region. The government employees are the real generator of the economy of the state and in fact an entire business class is dependent on the government employees apart from their own families.
“The government employment is the most secured job and the top most priority atleast in Kashmir. Sacking means their families and many more in their contacts will think twice before indulging in such activities. And, now their sympathisers in the separatists’ camp will also be exposed as from now on their families will be left to fend themselves,” said a senior official.
There is view in the government that once the families of the sacked employees will start feeling the heat of the wrong doings of their ones and separatists will look other way, then their will be reverse alienation against the separatist. And, once the separatists are exposed, the decision can be reversed, but it will take some time.
