J&K employees get 3 % DA hike | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners, raising it to 53% of Basic Pay or Basic Pension. The new rates will be effective from July 1, 2024, and mark a hike from the previous rate of 50%. The decision, outlined in two official orders issued by the Finance Department, fulfills a long-standing demand of employees and pensioners. Under the revised pay structure based on the 7th Pay Commission, “Basic Pay” refers to the salary drawn in the prescribed Pay Matrix level, excluding special pay and other allowances. Arrears for the increased DA, covering the period from July 2024 to December 2024, will be disbursed in February 2025. Starting January 2025, employees will receive monthly salaries with the revised DA rate. Similarly, pensioners and family pensioners will also benefit from the increase, with their DA raised to 53% of Basic Pension or Basic Family Pension. Arrears for this category will also be paid in February 2025, and revised pensions reflecting the higher rate will commence in January 2025. This move is expected to bring financial relief to employees and pensioners, offering improved support amidst rising inflation and addressing their everyday financial needs. |
