Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 27: To mark the 76th Republic Day, Sangam Tru Art Production (STAP) and Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) organized a vibrant cultural event titled "Virasate-E-Duggar" at the open-air theatre, Durga Bhawan, Janipur Jammu. The event was held under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, and the National College of Computer Education. The function was inaugurated by Mr. Saleem Beigh, Former Director General Tourism and State Convener INTACH JKUT/Ladakh UT, who unfurled the National Flag along with other dignitaries, including Sh. Vijay Sambyal, Former Director of All India Radio, Jammu, Sh. V.K. Magotra, Former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, and Dr. M.L. Dogra, Former Regional Director of the Song and Drama Division. In his presidential address, Sh. V.K. Magotra lauded the efforts of Dr. M.L. Dogra and Sh. Romesh Chander for their dedication to reviving the folk traditions of Jammu and Kashmir through cultural programs. The Chief Guest, Mr. Beigh, emphasized the importance of preserving India's freedom and cultural heritage. He urged cultural organizations to inspire the younger generation to protect the nation's composite culture and historic monuments. The event featured patriotic performances such as "Ham Sab Ek Hain," "Swatch Bharat Hai," and "Uncha Rahe Tiranga," along with a traditional cultural program highlighting the rich heritage of Duggar, Jammu's unique culture known for its bravery, rituals, folk arts, and customs. Dr. M.L. Dogra, Chairman of BLSKS, highlighted the importance of Republic Day, noting that while India gained independence in 1947, it was on January 26, 1950, that the country truly embraced freedom through the adoption of the Constitution. He also paid tribute to the contributions of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, marking his 129th birth anniversary. The event concluded with a pledge by the performers and attendees to foster national unity and eradicate social evils. The cultural performances were recorded and uploaded online for public viewing. A vote of thanks was presented by M.C. Kotwal, Secretary of BLSKS, bringing the successful event to a close. |
